ECU Tool Kit is a Windows desktop application provided by 550Performance LLC for supported ECU communication, calibration, and flashing workflows.

What is ECU Tool Kit?

ECU Tool Kit (ETK) is the Windows desktop companion for the 550Performance ETK VCI (Vehicle Controller Interface). With a supported vehicle connected, it brings vehicle identification, diagnostics, licensed ECU programming, and adapter support tools into one application.

What it can do today

  • Vehicle Information: Show the detected model year, make, model, and model code, plus the VIN when available, ECU calibration part number, license status, and ECU state.
  • Diagnostics: Read fault codes and descriptions, including current, pending, and historic states when reported by the vehicle. Clear fault codes and generate a PDF service report.
  • Programming: Select a compatible tune and flash the ECU with progress and completion feedback. ETK warns when system voltage is low before flashing. Programming requires the appropriate vehicle-specific tune license.
  • Support: Start a support email with a debug log and relevant application and adapter details.

Licensing: The standalone ETK VCI includes diagnostic access. ECU tune flashing requires a separate license for the supported vehicle. Available functions vary by vehicle and license.

Windows Defender / SmartScreen Notice

During beta or early release, Windows may show a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning such as “Windows protected your PC” or “Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting.” This can happen with new software that has not yet built enough download reputation, even when the installer is legitimate.

Only continue if you downloaded ECU Tool Kit directly from 550Performance or from a link provided by 550Performance.

To continue installation:

  1. When the SmartScreen window appears, click More info.
  2. Confirm the app name is the ECU Tool Kit installer.
  3. Click Run anyway to continue.

Microsoft documents SmartScreen as a security feature that checks apps and files and may allow users to bypass warnings depending on system policy. Some company or school-managed PCs may block this option entirely. Learn more from Microsoft .
